Today is the anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, when the US passed a law prohibiting states from denying women the right to vote. However, Black women were not able to vote for another 45 years when the Voting Rights Act was passed in 1965 by President Johnson.

It took decades of struggle for women— and male advocates— to gain suffrage. Our rights are again under seige from members of the Trump administration, it’s frightening.
