Consitutional Crisis: What citizens, writers and journalists can do

I was at the bookstore this week and someone asked me THE question so many are asking right now:

But what can I, a regular citizen, do?

  1. Write story-specific letters to your own representatives. How is what is happening specifically affecting you or your community? Sen. King touches on this in his conversation with Heather Cox Richardson, and my own experience is also that lawmakers pay little to no attention to emails, postcards, phone calls from people they don’t represent. Focus on your district.
  2. Keep talking to your MAGA neighbors and family members, again using personal stories and not generalities. We are all human. Stories are what sticks. Journalist Ron Fournier talks about this with Matt Lewis (see link below) in my favorite interview of the week.
