Trump has always wanted to be king of the hill. His first month of his second term shows desire to have more control.

Last week, the White House posted a fake magazine cover of President Donald Trump wearing a crown. The mock-up, which featured the New York skyline, was sent out after the administration rescinded the city’s congestion pricing program. “Long Live the King,” read the headline.
By coincidence, the digital edition of the Economist magazine came out a day later with a cover that showed Trump from the back, also wearing a crown. The headline read: “The would-be king.”
It was not meant in jest. It’s no wonder there are allusions to an American monarch. In a matter of weeks, the president has upended the world order with an embrace of Russia, a rebuke to Ukraine and a snub to Europe. He has applied a sledgehammer to the federal bureaucracy. He has thumbed his nose at a complacent Congress’s power of the purse. He has begun to wipe away any semblance of independence of the Justice Department. And on and on.
