Dune fans have loads to be excited about right now, but not least of which is the franchise’s return to the big screen next month with Dune: Part Three. Denis Villeneuve is back in the director’s chair for one final round of sci-fi greatness on the desert planet of Arrakis, and once Dune: Part Three is out in theaters around the world, he will shift his focus to directing the next James Bond movie. Dune fans who also own PlayStations have been enjoying the new release of Dune: Awakening on the console in recent weeks, and the developers recently announced a new string of updates and content coming to the game that will keep people tuned in for a while. All these new releases are thanks to the writings of the late, great Frank Herbert, who died 40 years ago this year.

This afternoon, Macmillan Audio announced an all-new audiobook recording of Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel, which is the first of its kind in over 20 years. Dylan Reilly Fitzpatrick, Imani Jade Powers, and Scott Brick narrate the new audiobook, which has been set for release in three weeks, on November 24.

This will give fans enough time to check out the new audiobook before the release of Dune: Part Three, which is inspired by the second novel in Herbert’s Dune series, Dune: Messiah. The first two Dune movies are an adaptation of Herbert’s first Dune novel that’s getting a new re-release, so there’s no better time to rewatch the films to prepare for both the new audiobook and Dune: Part Three. The new audiobook download retails for $44.99.

Is the Dune TV Show Getting Another Season?

Back in 2024, HBO released the first season of Dune: Prophecy, which is set thousands of years before even the first movie in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune franchise. HBO renewed the show for Season 2 in 2024, but two years later, there’s still no word on when Season 2 will be released. Star Josh Heuston teased to Collider earlier this year that the second season will be “bigger” than the first, but he was unable to share any updates on a potential release window. The new season wrapped filming back in March, so it should be set up for a return sooner rather than later.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage of Dune: Part Three, which opens in theaters around the world on December 18.
