PBS to Broadcast Shakespeare in the Park’s Romeo and Juliet
The production ran earlier this summer and takes place in a border town.

If you missed Romeo and Juliet at Free Shakespeare in the Park earlier this summer, don’t worry. You will soon get to watch it on PBS via Great Performances. The Saheem Ali-directed production will air on the network November 13 at 9 PM ET; check local listings. It will also be available to stream on PBS.org and the PBS app.
Set along a modern border town, this production also featured dialogue in Spanish. Starring in the title roles: Daniel Bravo Hernández as Romeo and Ra’Mya Latiah Aikens as Juliet, with Tony winner Francis Jue as Friar Laurence, Tony winner LaChanze as Lady Capulet, Tony winner Deirdre O’Connell as Nurse, Ariyan Kassam as Tybalt, Sergio Mauritz Ang as Friar John, Rachel Crowl as Apothecary, Caleb Joshua Eberhardt as Mercutio, Jason Manuel Olazábal as Lord Montague, Zack Lopez Roa as Benvolio, Jessica Pimentel as Escalus, and Mariand Torres as Lady Montague, alongside ensemble members Marlon Xavier and Andrés Nicolás Chaves.
The broadcast is part of a multiyear partnership between the Public Theater and Great Performances, to film and air the theatre company’s productions on PBS. Currently, the Public Theater’s production of Twelfth Night, starring Lupita Nyong’o and Sandra Oh, is available to stream on the PBS app, as well as Hamlet, starring Ato Blankson-Wood.
