More than 160 Jewish leaders, including dozens of rabbis and mostly left-leaning activists, are making a fresh push for advertisers and app stores to drop Elon Musk’s X over concerns of antisemitism. In a letter shared with the Tech Brief ahead of its publication Tuesday, the authors — under the banner of a campaign called X Out Hate — write that Musk “presents an urgent danger to Jews” via his leadership of X and “sweeping power” in the Trump administration.
They call him “one of the leading purveyors of antisemitism in the world,” citing his recent Nazi-esque salute and Holocaust jokes, his support of Germany’s largest far-right party and the proliferation of antisemitic hate on X.
“When the world’s richest man combines political power with a platform that can mobilize hate, the danger becomes immediate and lethal,” they write. “We face a stark choice: stand up now or watch as hate spreads unchecked.”
The letter underscores divergent views among Jewish leaders in how to respond to Musk.
