International Education Week (IEW) returns this year from November 16 to 20, 2026, and the International Area Studies team at Emory Libraries is excited to participate for our third consecutive year! Organized in partnership with Emory’s Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives, this annual event celebrates the power of global exchange, cross-cultural learning, and multilingual scholarship across campus.

To connect students, faculty, and staff with diverse literary voices from around the world, we are bringing back two campus favorites: the New Books from Around the World Display and our Wonderful Wednesday Pop-Up Library.

Discover the “New Books from Around the World” Display

Language bridges cultures, opens doors to new ideas and cultures, uncovers untold histories, and deepens research perspectives. This year’s new books display showcases recent acquisitions from across the globe, spanning 20 different languages, highlighting both widely spoken world languages and indigenous and heritage traditions, including:

    • Indigenous & Mesoamerican Languages: Chatino, Nahuatl, and Otomi
    • Middle Eastern & Sephardic Languages: Arabic, Hebrew, Ladino, and Persian
    • East & South Asian Languages: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Telugu
    • European, Slavic & Caucasian Languages: Armenian, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian

As shown in our exhibition poster above, visitors will find a variety of fiction, graphic works, poetry, and scholarly monographs. Featured titles include works by Roberto Bolaño, children’s and folk narratives in Chatino (Lyoa Oo Kwchi) and Otomi (N’arä k’anga vaga ha rä b’ot’ähi), Ukrainian editions, Japanese fiction, and historical studies.

Whether you want to read in your native tongue, practice a language you are currently learning, or discover stories beyond your familiar reading list, all books in the display are available for checkout.

The New Books from Around the World display is located at Woodruff Library Main Lobby on Level 2. It will open Monday, November 16, 2026, and remain on view through the end of the fall semester.
