Visit the Royal Caribbean (RCL) – Get Free Report website and you see some stunningly low prices. “Weekend getaways from $149, Alaska cruises from $249, and 7-night cruises from $401,” literally lead the page. And, while those prices are per person with double occupancy required or a solo traveler will pay twice that number, the deals are still pretty incredible.

These are very low prices compared to land-based vacations when you consider that a cruise on Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line (CCL) – Get Free Report, or MSC Cruises includes not just a room, but food and entertainment. You might be able to get a cheaper room in a tourist city like Orlando or Las Vegas, but add in even budget meals and you’re almost certainly spending more money than taking a cruise while getting far less.

Cruising has come a long way when it comes to its culinary offerings.

There are ships with Michelin-starred chefs, others highlighting local cuisine, and even vessels with a dozen or more restaurants to choose from.

While all of this sounds divine, there are few things passengers may want to skip. Here are the foods experts say you should avoid on your next cruise.

Don’t overdo it on the spice.

According to Nancy Mitchell, a registered nurse and contributing writer at Assisted Living Center, it may be a good idea to avoid high-fat and spicy foods that could “irritate the stomach lining and aggravate nausea.”

Mitchell adds, “Digestion can be much slower for people with digestive issues, and greasy foods tend to put a brake even further.” She recommends avoiding these foods from the night before boarding your cruise.

Mistakes Made on First Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas | Insider

I’ve traveled by car, bus, train, and plane, but boats of any kind were completely new to me until April, when I went on my first cruise to the Caribbean for a reporting trip.

I embarked on a seven-night voyage on the largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas. We sailed to Roatán, Honduras; Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico; and Royal Caribbean’s private island in the Bahamas.

While it felt surreal to be on such a large vessel in the middle of the ocean, I made some mistakes that made my trip more expensive and less enjoyable than it could have been. I learned that cruising wasn’t my preferred vacation style. But if I had avoided these mistakes, I would have had a better time.
