Three years ago, FamilySpace was launched at two branches of Cuyahoga County Public Library. You can read the details on this community partnership on my linked previous blog, but, since its inception, the program has reached over 2200 families. FamilySpace features three pillars: Family-centered spaces (comfortable seating, toys, and community play dates), family-centered staff (our amazing Family Advocates who connect families to resources), and family-centered partnerships. The latter entails Family Advisory Committees (FACs) at both locations who give feedback and ideas to library staff. They have advocated for safe outdoor spaces at the library and sponsored fun programs specifically tailored to the community’s needs.
