Are you an ebook reader? An audiobook convert? The Library’s collection of digital books (OverDrive if you’re on the web, or Libby if you’re using the app) just grew by the thousands in December. Here are a few highlights:

Nearly 300 new audiobooks have been added to our Always Available Audio collection – no holds, no wait. Fiction highlights include recent releases like Freida McFadden’s The Locked DoorThe Secret War of Julia Child by Diana R. Chambers, and Hannah Nicole Maehrer’s Apprentice to the Villain; contemporary classics like Percival Everett’s Erasure, Hugh Howey’s Wool, James Clavell’s Shogun and Elena Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend are also available. In nonfiction, local history titles like Morgan Murray’s Skid Road, The Last Wilderness and Puget’s Sound are available in audio for the first time; also be sure to check out Thich Nhat Hanh’s Mindfulness Essential series for wisdom and inspiration.

The Library added a Romance Any Time ebook collection with over 1,000 titles to check out (and titles are refreshed quarterly). You can find romance by your favorite authors like Alyssa Cole, Jill Shalvis, and Sylvia Day, or discover someone new.  The collection includes a wide variety of Romance genres – contemporary, historical, paranormal, fantasy, and even some science fiction romance to check out!

Looking to learn a new language? More than 450 language learning titles were just added. The Pimsleur collection contains comprehensive lessons for learning a foreign language, from Albanian to Vietnamese; other options include books by Living Language and Paul Noble. We also have books for foreign language speakers who want to learn English in a variety of languages.

And in the kids corner, the Library added nearly 200 Decodable Readers to our children’s ebook collection through two series: Stairway Decodables (also available in our print collection) and Supersonic Phonics.  Decodable texts are books for beginning readers that offer practice with specific phonic patterns and are designed to support students and their parents/caregivers in further developing reading skills.
