Ashley Teal has been hired as the chief business officer for Emory Libraries, Michael C. Carlos Museum, and Emory Center for Digital Scholarship.
As CBO, Teal will provide leadership for the organization’s business operations, financial stewardship, strategic resource planning, and operational effectiveness, helping ensure alignment between administrative functions and Emory’s strategic goals. She begins her new role September 21.
“I’m excited to be joining the Emory Libraries, Michael C. Carlos Museum, and Emory Center for Digital Scholarship,” says Teal. “I look forward to being a part of the core of campus, contributing to the strategic mission of these organizations, and supporting such a special part of the university. After one day of interviews, I saw how truly wonderful the team is, and it felt like home.”
Teal has been a member of the Emory community for nearly 20 years, serving in leadership roles across a variety of university functions. Most recently, she served as interim chief business officer and previously as director of the Business Operations Service Center, where she led teams providing business, financial and human resources support to administrative units across the university.
Earlier in her career, Teal served in the Office of Business Practice Improvement, supporting projects across a wide range of university functions including research administration, global services, and BPI Professional Development Programs. Teal also served as associate director of University Strategies, partnering with leaders across Emory to advance strategic priorities, improve operations, and support the One Emory: Engaged for Impact strategic framework.
Teal began her Emory career with the Predictive Health Institute and the Center for Health Discovery and Well Being, overseeing operations, financial management, marketing, and business development.
Teal earned a dual bachelor’s degree in journalism/broadcast news and sociology from the University of Georgia and her MBA with concentrations in strategy consulting, organization, and management from Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
