What is digital humanities, anyway? How can archival information be structured as data to support your research? What do you need to think about if you want to use or critique AI as part of your research? How do you get that digital project started?
If you are a graduate student or faculty member thinking about any of these questions, then our Digital Humanities RCR Workshop series is here for you!
In Digital Humanities: A Gentle Introduction (Sept. 18 or Sept. 22), you’ll learn about the current state of the field, think about ways digital humanities might intersect with your scholarship, and find out about digital humanities resources at Duke and beyond.
Digital Project Planning (Oct. 8 or Oct. 13) will help you get that project off the ground by helping you think about your goals, resources, and plans to sustain your project in the medium and long terms.
Whether you’re an AI skeptic or adopter, Humanities Research & AI (Oct. 27 or Oct. 29) will have something for you as we review basic concepts; highlight major ethical concerns; and consider guidance for use grounded in existing policies.
We’ll wrap up our series with a deep dive in Arts & Humanities Archives as Data (Nov. 10 or Nov. 12). You’ll learn to structure archival data around a research question using data feminism principles and addressing common humanities data challenges.
