New features in Emory Libraries’ Library Search tool will deliver easier and more powerful results for students, instructors, and other library users.
The discovery system includes exciting new features such as:
- The option to explore the library catalog and articles through a single search, or to separately search articles and the catalog
- Improved relevance and filtering to help users find what they need more quickly
- A comprehensive journal search that includes both ejournals and print versions
- The ability to browse by subject, author, call number, and other fields
- The inclusion of book cover images
The new 2026 Library Search User Guide will serve as an ongoing reference and training resource for both staff and patrons. The user guide, linked from the footer of the Library Search homepage, also addresses topics like saving searches, exporting citations, updating links, and retrieving bookmarked records from the old system.
Planning and configuration for the new Library Search began more than a year ago, said Tricia Clayton, Discovery and Delivery program manager in the Library Technology and Digital Strategies division. The division ran beta testing and sought user feedback during the summer, which has improved the previous offering.
Emory Libraries welcomes continued feedback. Patrons can use the feedback tool at the bottom right of the Library Search page to give their opinions on the new functionality and user experience.
