Standing for Election 2026-27 ALSC Board — Division Councilor candidate

In an effort to help ALSC members make an informed decision before they vote, today’s blog post consists of a statement from the Division Councilor candidate, Kirby McCurtis, who is standing for election to the 2026-27 ALSC Board of Directors. I am Kirby McCurtis (she/her), and I am enthusiastically standing for the position of Division Councilor. My relevant experience includes serving on the ALSC Board as an Executive Committee member during my term as ALSC President (2020-2021) and as an ALA Councilor- at-Large (2011-2014). If elected, I plan to be a strong voice for ALSC, advocating the ALSC Board of Directors’ position on ALA Council matters. I am committed to collaborating with the AASL division councilor to ensure that youth services divisions receive the necessary support from Council actions and in our ongoing work serving youth in libraries.
