Hello, this is Liv Hanson, chair of the 2026 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award. The 2026 Geisel Committee welcomes ALSC membership to suggest titles for consideration for this year’s award. The Geisel Award is to be given annually to the author and illustrator of the most distinguished contribution to the body of American children’s literature that encourages and supports the beginning reader published in English in the United States during the preceding year. Honor Books may be named. These shall be books whose text andillustrations are also truly distinguished. Here is a link to the complete list of past winners. The Geisel Award recognizes the author and illustrator of a book for beginning readers who, through their literary and artistic achievements, demonstrate creativity and imagination to engage children in reading.
