It is my esteemed pleasure to write my first blog post as your 2025-2026 President of ALSC. Thank you for the many well wishes via email, social media, and snail mail. It was wonderful seeing old friends and meeting new friends at the ALA Conference in
Philadelphia. The energy was electric in facing new challenges for the library profession. Together we will turn these challenges into opportunities!

Our #ALSCJOY will light the way as we accomplish our goals. I am proud of the team we have formulated for my term; all of our members combine to make ALSC a strong division of the American Library Association. We will only become stronger with the reunification. More information about this will come in future blog posts.
First, let me offer my thanks to Dr. Rob Bittner, the ALSC Executive Board, the ALSC Board of Directors, the ALSC staff, and our Priority Group Consultants, as well as ALSC committee chairs and co-chairs for an extraordinary year.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our continuing Board members and the newest Board members: Ariana Hussain, Vice President/President-Elect; Alia Jones; Valerie Tohom; and Robbin Friedman, who will serve again as our fiscal officer. Many thanks to our departing Board members: Dr. Jonda McNair, Past President; Maria F. Estrella; and Jaime Lee Eastman.
I am excited to be meeting and working with the ALSC community during my term as president. #ALSCJOY abounds!
Dr. Claudette S. McLinn
