A librarian’s summer is a lot like your phone’s battery life–it’s here and gone before you know it. Summer is a time for both excitement and reflection in the library. With school out and summer reading starting to wrap up, the Youth Services team is already planning for new learning moments and experiences for the upcoming fall–whether it’s in the classroom, a program room, or anywhere in between. Re-energized and inspired by the fresh connections made at ALA Annual, this year brings even more opportunities as ALSC and YALSA members prepare for their reunification. Are you feeling motivated this summer to get involved in the changes ahead? Do you know someone who would be a great leader? Consider nominating yourself or someone else to stand for election to the ALSC board!

The ALSC Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for the following positions:
- ALSC Board of Directors member (3 open seats)
- ALSC Division Councilor (1 open seat)
- ALSC Vice President/President-Elect (1 open seat)
We invite you to fill out our Informal Nomination Form as soon as possible, on behalf of yourself
or another. Questions about roles, time commitments, or more? Feel free to reach out to us!
Are you a YALSA member considering standing for election? Here’s a reminder that while the
reunification is in process, you must also be an ALSC member in good standing to be included
on the 2026 slate.
STEP UP for ALSC, STEP UP for election, and STEP UP for the future of librarianship serving all young people, from birth through teens!
