What do David Weisner, Leonard Marcus, Jason Chin and LeUyen Pham have in common? They were all speakers at The United States Board on Books for Young People (#USBBY) special program, “Visual Generation: Image, Design, Words.” The star power and genius in this program was amazing! David hints that there’s a new work in progress and proceeded to tell the modern history of wordless storytelling. Leonard showed the power of an image in “Earthrise”. Jason Chin gave a lesson on visual design by using his newest book, “Hurricane “. LeUyen Pham showed where picture books and graphic novels meet and where they diverge. It was an amazing presentation!
Kelly Depin is a member of the 2025 Newbery committee and is looking forward to giving you a look at some of the invited events attached to the award winning authors. She has been a librarian for over 20 years and looks forward to being found someday as part of some unique children’s or adult programming
