Conferences, Institutes, and other networking events are a great way for members of ALSC to connect. However, sometimes it’s hard to make these in-person events. To help those that can’t attend these events, ALSC offers many online courses, and some of them were first presented at events like the ALSC National Institute of September 2024 in Denver, CO. This special selection of webinars are part of the Best of National Institute Webinar Series.
As an attendee of the ALSC National Institute in 2024, I was excited to see the selection of
webinars that will be available during the winter and spring of 2025. There will be more coming
in the summer of 2025 too. Here is the current list of webinars in the series:
- ALSC Member Exclusive! Climbing the Leadership Ladder: What You Need to Know Before Starting and How to Decide Where to Stop | Thursday, March 6 | 11-12 pm CT
- Conscious Kids Kits: Using Picture Books to Spark Conversations About Racial Equity with Children | Tuesday, February 18, 2025 | 1-2 pm CT
- Celebrating Autistic Joy in Your Library | Wednesday, February 26, 2025 | 1-2:30 pm CT
- Libraries Supporting Students with Dyslexia | Tuesday, March 4, 2025 | 1-2:30 pm CT
- Thinking Beyond the Stacks: Creating a Summer Camp for Tweens! | Tuesday, March 18, 2025 | 1-2:00 pm CT
- People, Paper, POP! How to Create a Readers’ Advisory System that Works for Your Library | Tuesday, April 1, 2025 | 1-2:00 pm CT
At the ALSC National Institute, I attended most of these presentations that are now being offered as webinars, and I am happy that ALSC is able to offer them to more people online.
As with many webinars, these webinars do cost money to attend, but ALSC also has many free online courses. To find those, login with your ALA credentials to the ALA Learning Site. The search tool will let you filter to webinars by division.
