Join The ALSC Membership Committee for a virtual social on Wednesday January 22 at 3pm ET/2pm CT all about predictions for this year’s Youth Media Awards.

Do you feel like this award season is anyone’s game? Do you have a clear front runner that you cannot stop talking about? Were you surprised by last year’s winners? Did you run a book club or a storytime with a 2024 title that kids will not stop raving about?

There is so much to talk about!

Before the Youth Media Awards at LibLearnX on January 27, chat with other children’s lit enthusiasts across the country (and the world!) about what your predictions are for 2025.

Just to stir the pot a little, here are some of my library team’s predictions:

Newbery Medal Prediction: I’m Sorry You Got Mad by Kyle Lukoff

Caldecott Medal Prediction: Jump for Joy illustrated by Hadley Hooper and written by Karen Gray Ruelle

  • Honor Book Prediction: My Daddy Is a Cowboy illustrated by C.G. Esperanza and written by Stephanie Seales
  • Honor Book Prediction: The Yellow Bus illustrated and written by Loren Long

I know. A picture book winning a Newbery, what is this 2016? Maybe so.

Sign up to talk to other children’s lit enthusiasts and library professionals about your own predictions and to celebrate all the wonderful books that came out this year! See you on January 22.
