International Dot Day, Peter H. Reynolds’s annual celebration of creativity, is recognized on September 15th-ish. At my library, a colleague and I are taking the “-ish” to heart: hosting a month-long passive program to exalt the humble dot! Staff and patrons alike are encouraged to “make their mark.” Celebrating Dot Day is as easy as 1-2-3! 1. Displays Dots We are fortunate to have two glass display cases at the entrance to our Youth Services Department. Last year’s display held everything from a crocheted dot to a neurographic dot, from a 3D beach ball dot to a dot made of dots. This year, we are continuing the creativity: each Youth Services staff member made a dot for our display.
