Each February we observe Black History Month, but why limit your enjoyment of Black writers, illustrators, thinkers, and creators to just one month? Librarians at the Seattle Public Library have put together several booklists to help keep you reading throughout the year, and highlighted a few titles from each list below:

In this collection of poetry, Smith engages with the role of art and artist in a time of social and political upheaval.

Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts: Stories and Recipes from Five Generations of Black Country Cooks by Crystal Wilkinson
Combining recipes and memoir, Wilkinson explores recipes from five generations of her Black Appalachian family, reflecting on the way family, ingredients, and place weave together into a powerful inheritance.
