Comic-Con Plans In-Person Convention on Thanksgiving Weekend 2021 – Variety

Editor’s Note: Been There, Will Be There Again…

San Diego Comic-Con is returning in 2021.

Despite recent news that the massive, pop culture convention would be going virtual in July, plans for the fall gathering have moved forward. Comic-Con International has announced their plans to hold an in-person convention in 2021.

The three-day event titled, “Comic-Con Special Edition” will take place over Thanksgiving weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 26 through the 28 at the San Diego Convention Center.

San Diego Comic-Con Goes Virtual Again in 2021 – Variety

San Diego Comic-Con, the largest fan convention in North America, will not be held in person in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers announced on Monday. Instead, the event will be held virtually over three days, from July 23-25.

In addition, Comic-Con International, the organization behind SDCC, is planning an in-person convention in San Diego to be held in November 2021.

The Art of Comic-Con at the San Diego Central Library Downtown | Comic-Con International: San Diego

Our first ever gallery exhibition, The Art of Comic-Con, debuts in just 2 short weeks on Saturday, June 20 in the Art Gallery on the 9th Floor of the San Diego Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common at 330 Park Blvd. in downtown San Diego. A reception is planned on opening day from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. The exhibition and reception are open to the public and admission is free.

Comic-Con badges sell out in record time, just one hour. | UTSanDiego.com

It was yet another rapid sell-out Saturday morning for coveted Comic-Con badges, but this year it happened in record time — in just one hour.

That’s 30 minutes faster than last year’s sellout for the four-day pop culture extravaganza, which this year will be coming to the San Diego Convention Center July 9 – 12. The always sold-out event draws some 130,000 attendees from around the world, including top Hollywood film and TV producers and major celebrities.
